I have just finished reading A GIRL NAMED ZIPPY. Named because she 'zipped' around the house. A picture of small town USA (Indiana) in the 1960s-early 70s. A memoir -- its a true story, the Library of Congress call numbers - F534.M675 K - drop it right into American History.
Not a PS for fiction, but a true story.
A laugh festival, not corny jokes (there might be a few); but comic characters, credible day to day people, and events.
DROLL is an understatement.
if you need something to make you laugh (who doesn't) this is the thing. I got if used from amazon for under 5 bucks with shipping.
really funny, life in the 60s, in Indiana, from a gun toting father, a frustrated mother reading everything -from a book mobile, crazy hippies, crazier town folk . . . smoking and drinking, Quakers and Camping..... cuts and bruises, a finger eating rabbit....
